New Beginnings

Program Description/Services

New Beginnings is an independent, supportive subsidized housing program with Medical Case Management for single adults living with HIV/AIDS and who desire to live:

  • Independently
  • In a community setting
  • In a supportive environment
  • On the quiet campus of Bethany Hill School

The Program opened its doors on September 1, 1994. It was designed to assist residents with meeting their medical and financial needs, while still offering independent living.

New Beginnings mission is to assist individual residents to establish and maintain health and residential stability and to grow toward greater self-sufficiency.

The program goals include:

  • To provide a safe, healthy and affordable environment for folks living with HIV
  • To provide a comprehensive program of services addressing individual clients’ needs
  • To offer support to the individual
  • To assist residents with housing

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be living with HIV/AIDS
  • Be chronically homeless, as defined by HUD
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Agree to adhere to program requirements
  • Be able to live independently
  • Pass a CORI background check and have no open cases or warrants
  • Have a sincere commitment to recovery

New Beginnings independent living and medical case management program strives to achieve the following outcomes:

  • To provide a safe, healthy and affordable environment for folks living with HIV.
  • To provide a comprehensive program of services addressing individual clients’ needs regarding health, addiction, advocacy, referral and wellness.
  • To offer support within an environment that recognizes the possibilities and potential of each individual.
  • To assist residents with finding permanent housing when they are ready to move.

Referrals can be made by self, medical offices,treatment programs, social service agencies, clergy, family or friends.

New Beginnings occupies three apartments on the first floor of the Bethany Hill School. Each apartment houses four residents, and have:

  • Private bedrooms, with double locking doors.
  • Fully furnished kitchen and living room.
  • Full bathroom, with tub and shower, as well as a half bath.
  • All apartments are co-ed.
  • Be able to live independently

New Beginnings is a part of the living and learning community at Bethany Hill School. Residents are encouraged to achieve their own personal, educational and professional goals.
